This workshop offers participants a basic introduction to Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC). Participants will spend the first half learning about basic MSC concepts including:
- the definition of self-compassion and its three components;
- the Yin and Yang of self-compassion;
- the five myths of self-compassion; and
- how self-compassion differs from self-criticism, self-esteem, and self-care.
Participants will spend the second half of the workshop engaged in guided mindful self-compassion practices. Each of these will last no longer than 20 minutes and will be followed by a brief break between each practice.
Three different ticket types are being offered:
- Current UA Little Rock BSW, MSW, or GERO student (free)
- Community member ($10; no CEUs provided)
- CEU ($15 for 3 CEUs provided by the UA Little Rock School of Social Work)
100% of funds raised will be donated to the UA Little Rock Association of Black Social Workers student chapter to support their activities.
